The CLEP – College Level Examination Program is credit-by-examination of College Board, an initiative of Educational Testing Services (ETS). Candidates can take this examination in 34 different study areas and receive up to a two year of College credit. The CLEP exams offer number of advantages including saving of precious time and lots of money. About 2900 colleges grant credit for CLEP examination. These examinations are extremely beneficial to dual degree candidates and to those who are just few credits short to show their graduate certificate. CLEP examinations are offered for free to following category candidates-
Military personnel (Active Duty and Reserve) - Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard, Army Reserve, Air Force Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve, Navy Reserve, Coast Guard Reserve, Army and Air National Guard.
Eligible civilian employees and spouses of participating Reserve Component and Coast Guard personnel.
Department of Defense Acquisition Personnel (only eligible for the following computer-based exams: Principles of Macroeconomics, Principles of Microeconomics and Principles of Marketing).
The Credits that you earn through CLEP examination are treated as equal as that through completion of regular college semesters.
