Programs The United States Sports Academy is an independent, non-profit, accredited, special mission sports university created to serve the nation and the world with programs in instruction, research and service. The role of the Academy is to prepare men and women for careers in the profession of sports Students can choose to complete their degrees through summer resident study, online or through a combination of both. The Academy's distance learning program offers students the flexibility to take classes online and earn degrees without leaving their homes or jobs. Students can enroll in their courses at any time and from any place. The United States Sports Academy's continuing education and certification courses can be taken entirely through distance learning.
Students must present proof of an associate's degree from a regionally-accredited junior or community college with a 2.0 or better GPA. Specifically, the general education requirements consist of the following:
Three to six hours in English
Three to six hours in fine arts/humanities
Three to six hours in social/behavioral science
Three to six hours in natural science/mathematic
Remaining electives in above areas must total 30 hours
Master's Students interested in pursuing a Master of Sports Science degree may be accepted from a variety of backgrounds. For full-standing admission to the master's program, an applicant must be a graduate of a four-year, regionally-accredited undergraduate institution and must have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 2.50 or better (on a 4.0 scale) in all undergraduate work and have a minimum score of 800 on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), 400 on the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) or 369 scale score (27 raw score) on the Miller Analogies Test (MAT). A student who graduated with a bachelor's degree from a state approved but non-accredited institution may apply for the graduate program as a conditionally admitted student. A student who has a conferred master's or doctoral degree from a regionally-accredited institution may waive the GRE, MAT or GMAT requirement with an official transcript stating the date of completion of the degree. Doctoral A student interested in pursuing a Doctor of Sports Management degree may be accepted from a variety of backgrounds. For full-standing admission to the doctoral program, an applicant must hold (or be a candidate for) a master's degree from a regionally accredited institution. Approval of applications from students currently enrolled in a master's program is conditional upon the successful completion of a degree prior to commencement of study at the Academy.
Standardized exams are required for prospective students who are interested in pursuing a Master's or Doctoral Degree from the United States Sports Academy. Graduate level testing is part of the admissions process.
All Masters and Doctoral Students will be required to pass the Comprehensive Exam at the completion of their degree from the United States Sports Academy.
